Rural Environment Development

Today, cities are getting bigger and villages, smaller. We need to understand that how much ever metropolitan we become, the true growth and development of our country will happen only when these villages and rural areas are developed. Have you ever thought about how people must be tackling water shortages, hygiene treatment, or woman empowerment in villages? The things which we find in cities so easily are not as easy going in the rural areas. There is still room for a lot of development and that is exactly what we are aiming to achieve.

Until now, Sound of Earth Foundation has planted over 50,000 plant saplings and each student or their family has adopted 5-6 plants based on their personal capabilities. The same goes for Water Harvesting, where volunteers have educated and created awareness among the residents of Borsal to adopt the technique of rainwater harvesting and do their part, however small it may be. Almost 100 houses in the area have been water harvesting equipped, with the help of the Sound of Earth Foundation. Rainwater Harvesting is an easy technique with no major physical or financial hassles to save water. There are several benefits to it and no harm to nature takes place, in turn contributing to the environmental development of the village.

Another initiative by Sound of Earth Foundation is VERMICULTURE, which has picked up pace in the past few years thanks to the education of the villagers by our volunteers. We have promoted this ideology for quite a few years now and have installed various small demo kits for everyone to understand how it benefits nature. Along with vermiculture, a similar practice called ORGANIC CULTIVATION is also something that is on the agenda of our Foundation. We have approached many farmers in the past few years, to showcase the advantages of organic cultivation without using any chemical fertilizers or pesticides. We also conduct farmer’s meets with local bodies to motivate them and help create an organization within these farmers for a collective good.

Last but not the least, MEDICAL PLANTS PROPAGATION is a relatively new initiative by Sound of Earth Foundation. Till now, more than 30 various medicinal plants have been grown and cultivated in Borsal. Seminars and awareness camps are also being held in schools to impart the importance of these plants.
